The Future of Flying
May 18 2011, 4:16pm
The number of flights is expected to increase at a rate of 5% per year to reach 16.9 million flights in 2030. If air traffic management system (ATM) does not improve, chaos will reign.... And that's why, SESAR, a joint undertaking between the European Commission & Eurocontrol and over 100 partners from the aviation sector, is modernizing the system and is developing new technologies and flight procedures. SESAR aims at tripling airspace capacity, keeping a high level of safety, reducing environmental impact by 10% and reducing air traffic management costs by 50%. http://www.sesarju.eu
