Synchronize with iPhone, Outlook, Microsoft Mobile, BlackBerry and Palm http://www.brice.net/items/view/1417/synchronize-with-iphone-outlook-microsoft-mobile-blackberry-and-palm

The SynchroExpress software synchronizes ContactOffice with your computer. Your computer can then synchronize with mobile devices. This way, you can synchronize ContactOffice with mobile devices. The latest SynchroExpress version (3.0 - build 3052) has been released and allows synchronizing ContactOffice with:

Outlook (all versions, including 2007) Devices running on Microsoft Mobile (via Outlook) Synchronize your mobile device with Outlook. Then, synchronize Outlook with ContactOffice. Apple iPhone (via Outlook) Choose “iPhone” when setting up Synchro Express. Then, set-up Apple iTunes so that it synchronizes your iPhone with Outlook. Unfortunately, it is not possible to synchronize with iTunes directly. BlackBerry (without Outlook) If not installed yet, install BlackBerry Desktop Software. Choose “BlackBerry” when setting up SynchroExpress. You don’t need Outlook to synchronise ContactOffice with your BlackBerry. Palm (without Outlook) If not installed yet, install Palm Desktop Manager. Choose “Palm” when setting up SynchroExpress.

Please note SynchroExpress is available for Windows only. The installer is Windows 7 compliant. To get this new version, log in your account and go to the Synchro page. Before installing it, read the documentation and limitations in the online help. In a few months, we will offer alternatives such as SyncML to synchronize :

with other platforms (Mac, Linux) “over-the-air” (ie. without connecting the mobile device to a computer, the device will be connecting directly to ContactOffice through the Internet).

Double slam for Emakina at the IMA http://www.brice.net/items/view/1416/double-slam-for-emakina-at-the-ima

During the last Interactive Media Awards, which took place recently in the United States, Emakina won two awards, one for « I Love Radio Advertising » and one for « Nescafé ». - The web site « I Love Radio Advertising » received the « Outstanding Achievement Award » in the category Radio. It lauded the attention paid to user-friendliness as well as the development of an online data base containing some 60.000 radio ads, spanning 25 years of radio history. « I Love Radio Advertising » allows visitors to (re-)listen to the most legendary radio ads, create a playlist with their favorite ads, download them, and more! Its powerful search engine also makes it possible to find ads in the data base using various intelligent search criteria such as brand, sector, genre, era, language, and agency.

  • The Nescafé web site also received an « Outstanding Achievement Award », in the category Food/ Beverage. This site is a cross-media platform built around the Nescafé brand. Through its «Design your cup» module the web site helps to create higher brand awareness by renewing the product experience beyond the web. The cup itself is at the heart of the Nescafé brand activations.

Brice talks about the death of traditional advertising http://www.brice.net/items/view/1415/brice-talks-about-the-death-of-traditional-advertising

PUB and BFM Today recently invited Brice Le Blévennec for a filmed interview on the inertia of traditional media. How can press groups and advertisers adapt themselves to better respond to the evolution of society? Our visionary of the world of communication underlined the many rear guard actions taken by the sector. “The media must change their way of operating”, he says “The world has changed, habits have changed and readers have changed too. The future is now in the hands of a new generation, that of the digital natives, those who have never known life without the cell phone.” You can review Brice’s baleful interview on the BFM website. To continue thinking on these lines, here is a recent presentation of Brice Le Blévennec on the future of communication and the media entitled “Looking at the future?”

New version available: display most hours of the day in the Calendar and other improvements http://www.brice.net/items/view/1405/new-version-available-display-most-hours-of-the-day-in-the-calendar-and-other-improvements

Here are the release notes for Advanced interface versions 1.7.003 and 1.7.004, currently available on ContactOffice servers. Display most hours of the day in the Calendar We received feedback about the Advanced interface calendar displaying “less content” than its Classic interface counterpart: some events are not displayed in the visible part of the Calendar. Of course, you can display them by scrolling up and down. In other words, events taking place in the first or last hours of the day are not displayed immediately. This is because of the calendar grid resolution. The “60 minutes” option was lacking in the Advanced interface Calendar preferences and is now available. Using this setting, each calendar cell will cover an entire hour, whereas the default setting is 30 minutes. Take a look at the screenshots below. They belong to the same ContactOffice account. Calendar with 30 minutes grid resolution (default setting):

Calendar with 60 minutes grid resolution:

Improvements to the “Infos” tab “Infos” is a special tab that you can see just after logging in. It appears only if you belong to at least one group. Its purpose is to allow group administrators and co-administrators to display a message to group members. We’ve fixed a bug preventing the Infos content to appear when the account was member of a large number of groups. Besides, if a group has no Infos available, it is now completely hidden in the Infos tab in order to gain space.

More languages for Contacts The Advanced interface is available in English, French, Dutch and Portuguese. You can now select not yet translated languages (Dutch, Italian, Spanish, Swedish and Finnish) when you create or edit Contacts. As system-generated e-mails (meetings and meeting polls invitations, reminders, etc.) are already translated, these contacts will get the e-mails in their own language.

Comme le soulignait le Prix Nobel d’Economie Paul Krugman dans le colonnes du New York Times en 2006 : « Bit by bit, everything that can be digitized will be digitized, making intellectual property ever easier to copy and ever harder to sell for more than a nominal price. And we’ll have to find business and economic models that take this reality into account. It won’t all happen immediately. But in the long run, we are all the Grateful Dead. » See also :
